There is also a costume contest. This year, Mae won 2nd place in the preschool group. She was very excited to be a winner. She told Pete she was rich ($1.50 winnings) and she got a coupon for free fries. Her only disappointment was that she wanted to be a queen and not just a princess and everyone was calling her a princess.
It was a fun, but busy night.
Halloween night was another fun night for the kids. The weather was very cold and we even had 'snow globe' type flurries in the afternoon. You could see the white specks blowing around, but nothing stayed on the ground and you couldn't even really see wet spots on the ground. The kids were all bundled up and the girls had stocking hats on with their head accessories over the top. They are quite motivated by candy and didn't seem to mind the cold. They have fun going around the block to get treats and have had lots of candy the past few days. I forgot to take a picture from Halloween night, but they were all smiles when they returned from trick-or-treating.
Pete is in charge of pumpkin carving, which I really appreciate. Mae and Henry enjoyed the activity this year, but Anne didn't really care for it (too stinky and yucky). Anne did enjoy painting a pumpkin at school and asked Pete to carve it for her. Henry has the pumpkin on the far left and he carved everything but the mouth this year. Mae had the next pumpkin. She had a picture she wanted copied for her pumpkins face. Pete came up with the idea for the pumpkin on the far right- bet you never would've guessed that!
