Keenan Reunion- part 1

I love, love, love getting together with my family at our reunions. Everyone was able to be there this year, which made it even more fun!
Our week started out with a very early wake-up Sunday morning. Henry was worried we weren't going to wake him up and was a little upset that I wouldn't set his alarm clock. He knew we had to get up at 3:00am and he came running into our room at 2:45am to let us know it was almost 3!! After we got up, we put the final few things in the van and headed to the airport. Both kids fell asleep when we were about 15min away from the airport...so much for extra rest during the 1.5 hour drive. Thankfully, they didn't wake up too grumpy. On the shuttle bus ride from the parking area to the airport I realized that we didn't lock our van, but we didn't have time to go back. Although this really stressed me out, Pete pointed out that there was nothing in our van worth taking so I had to just forget about it. During the first flight, Anne slept most of the time and Henry was quite content to look at books, stickers and such in his backpack. He was a bit upset that we were in the last row and didn't have a window to look out of, but he got over it. Our layover was short enough that we walked down the hall a short distance and they were already boarding our next flight. I did take the time to use the bathroom at the airport before boarding, but that was all there was time for. Our next flight was a bit more challenging to occupy the kids due to fighting, but it was a short flight and we survived. Once we got to Florida Grandpa, Grandma and Auntie Liz were waiting for us. It was about a 45 min drive to our beach house and once again the kids fell asleep with about 10 min left in the car. We were the last family to arrive and the kids had a blast playing with cousins that afternoon. We didn't get the kids changed into swim suits because it was raining, but some cousins were outside. Well, both kids ended up in the pool in their clothes because they were so wet anyways we figured why not! Sunday night we got goodie bags from Grandma that had green shirts for everyone and the kids had their names and what number grandkid they are. My shirt said, girl 11 and my sister-in-law had one that said, boy 12. Grandma also had some shirts for fourth of July for the kids. We all took a walk down to the beach that night, too. Our family was very tired and ready for bed Sunday night.

Monday morning was a really slow start to the day. I wasn't feeling well and had been up at night and was wanting some extra sleep. The kids don't know how to sleep past 6:30, but Grandma and Disney Jr. were all that they needed to be happy. When I got up the kids were frozen in front of the TV and would have been willing to watch all morning. Grandma had declared Monday Christmas since she was so happy to have all of her kids together. She had a little bit of candy, Navy pencils and cups, and coloring books for the kids. She also had lots of decorations/crafts for the kids to work on. The rest of the day was spent relaxing at the house and swimming in the pool. The beach had rip tide warnings so we couldn't swim there.
It's Christmas in July!

Tuesday we all went together to the aquarium. This aquarium is where Winter the dolphin lives. Winter has a prosthetic tail and there is a movie about it. Henry and Anne both enjoyed trying to touch the sting rays in the petting tank. Henry would get nervous and move his hand and Anne just wanted to splash and play in the water. She also would try to kiss them as they swam past. The kids had fun, but were ready to go by the end. After that it was more relaxing and swimming in the pool since the beach still had the riptide warnings.

Wednesday morning some adults went deep sea fishing. While they were gone we decided to take Henry mini-golfing as he was really wanting to do that. Others came along, which made it even more fun. I've never seen a mini-golf place that had small, plastic clubs, but it was perfect for Anne and she had a lot of fun carrying her ball and club around and playing. Henry thinks it's a lot of fun to play, but doesn't seem to grasp the concept of turns (or doesn't want to grasp the concept of turns). He was more than willing to help anyone else out and hit their ball as well as his. If he couldn't help others he was ready to move on as soon as his ball was in the hole. :) He does do a good job of cheering for others though, and was very excited when Grandpa got holes in one, which he did multiple times. We all had fun, but were glad to get on the trolley back home as it was much warmer out than I had thought. The afternoon was once again spent relaxing and swimming in the pool.
