Keenan Reunion- part 2

Thursday was the fourth of July. One of my good friends from High School was going to be stopping by, so I wanted to stick around the house and Henry really wanted to swim in the pool. So, Pete took Anne on a walk with some others down to the pier. Pete enjoyed his walk and Anne was able to nap for a bit, so it was a success! Henry was able to swim with Grandpa for a bit and Grandpa was able to show Henry how to do a back float. We had been having problems getting him to do it, but after seeing Grandpa, he did it perfectly! We didn't sign Henry up for swim lessons this year, but I think our vacation was more than sufficient. Once my friend, Kelly, and her kids got there we did some more swimming and Anne joined us too. It was so good to see Kelly and get to catch up a bit. That night we had a cookout. We also received Navy bottle openers that play music. We did some fireworks that night and they were nice enough to start early so Henry could see some before going to bed. Henry also really enjoyed being able to do his own sparkler and pop its. He told me he likes to call it just fire and not fireworks, because he likes fire. Although he was grumpy for almost all pictures, he was quite happy in these.

Friday was a sad day because people were starting to head back home. We spent some time in the morning at the beach, as we hadn't really been yet. Anne does NOT like the sand on her feet and was not really happy. She also had a hard time keeping her balance when the water and sand went out from under her. She did really enjoy being in the water with Pete. Henry thought it was a lot of fun to lay down in the sand and let the waves hit him over and over again. His back got some good scrapes from all the little bits of shells hitting him, but he didn't seem to mind. Even though building a sand castle was on his list of things to do during vacation, he wasn't all that interested when we were there. Pete helped him build one, Henry filled it with the fun shells Pete had found, and then he buried all the shells. Friday night Pete and I were able to go out to dinner with the other adults that were still there while the kids stayed and watched a movie with Grandma and Grandpa. It was nice to get out for a bit and visit without worrying about the kids.

Love this one!
Saturday morning we were up early again to catch our flight home. Anne once again slept on the first flight; however still managed to cause a mess. The volume on the PA system was very loud and when they came on to tell us something, she jumped and kicked her feet. Well, I wasn't able to catch Pete's orange juice fast enough so the almost full cup went all over the place. Other than that it was a fine flight. Our layover this time around was very hectic. We had to change terminals and had very little time to do so. Pete had Anne and a couple of our carry-on bags. Henry and I were walking as fast as we could, but Henry was really tired and started to cry. So, I picked him up and started walking, but couldn't go really fast. Finally Pete took both kids and the bags and was going as fast as he could. When we got to the gate they were announcing that doors would be closed in 2 minutes. We made it, but it was a bit too rushed for my liking. The next flight was long and very difficult to keep the kids happy. After a week of vacation I think we were all tired and ready to be home. When we finally made it back to our van, we found that it was just as we had left it. Nothing had happened to it despite the fact that it was unlocked all week. We piled in, said a prayer and headed for home. It was good to get home after a very fun week of vacation. I hope we can all make it again next time!!
