We have decided to take some day trips around the state and see some fun/neat/interesting places while we have the time to. A few years ago the newspaper published a list of 100 places to visit and 100 things to eat in the state. We're not going to do them all, but want to do as many as we can that sound fun to us. I'll be posting all about our adventures so you can see all the fun we're having.
Stop #1- Canteen Lunch in the alley -
Ottumwa
This is a small place (about 20 seats around a counter) and they serve loose meat sandwiches, called canteens, and pie. They do serve a few other things, but this is mostly all they sell. We thought that it was a great inexpensive lunch and the atmosphere is something that you will not experience anywhere else. Definitely worth the trip there.
