Summer reading program

The kids have had fun participating in the public library's summer reading program. The theme is 'every hero has a story'. Henry had to keep track of his reading minutes and earned 1 library dollar for every 2 hours of reading. He ended up reading 52 hours during June and July to earn 26 library dollars. He bought several prizes with his money (football, helicopter, light-up frisbee, swim goggles, pool noodle, pizza coupon, water bottle, dinosaur bones kit, punching bag, etc) The girls had activity sheets to complete and got a prize for every sheet they completed. They got bubbles, tote bags, twisty straws, rubber ducks, pencils, fireman hats.

To end the program there was a carnival at the library with games and food. The kids ate hot dogs, popcorn and snow cones and then played some games. After they played the games they got more prizes. The firemen were there and had set up their fire hose as a sprinkler. The kids had a blast playing in the water. Henry also loved that two friends from his kindergarten class were there. Anne was also brave enough to take a picture with Smokey the bear, but didn't want to stand too close to him.
