Anne

Anne has recently changed from a mellow baby into a little girl that wants to get into things. She is still fairly laid back and is content with simple things, but has started to get more challenging. Some examples...
  • When we play outside she used to just sit on her blanket and chew on her toys. Now she prefers to eat grass and dirt.
  • When we eat food she wants some too (which is ironic considering her appetite is really quite small, I think she just doesn't want to miss out on anything).
  • If I leave the room for a minute she'll start to cry until I get back and even then she needs some reassurance from me before she'll calm down.
  • At church she no longer wants to sit in our laps or on the pew next to us, but wants to get the hymn book or someones hair or anything within reach.
  • Diaper changes are also continuing to get more and more challenging.  As soon as the diaper is off; she thinks that it is time to make her great escape.  She will throw a leg over, roll the hips through, and away she tries to go.  Luckily her changing table is the floor, but she has also made the same attempt at diaper stations in public restrooms (no tumbles yet).
Don't misunderstand me, I know these are all really little things and are totally normal. It just hits me sometimes how fast she's growing up and changing and that she's not really a baby anymore.

Just a few days ago she got onto her hands and knees for the first time and it's looking like she might learn to crawl after all. She currently gets around by rolling and to change directions she'll use her hips as a pivot point and then roll some more. It may sound like she can't get around by rolling, but she really does get everywhere this way. The only trouble is that she gets stuck places sometimes.

Anne got a haircut (really just a trim) at the beginning of May. She had a few really long pieces of hair at the back that Pete thought needed to be cut. After him telling me this several times I finally gave in. He wanted to trim a few other places too, but for now we just did the back. I will admit that it does look a lot better now.

Anne now has 3 teeth (2 on top and 1 on the bottom) and has let me know just how sharp those baby teeth can be. She still loves to watch Henry and laughs and laughs at/with him. She started sleeping through the night at the beginning of April (7 months) which has been awesome. She sleeps in her crib in the same room as Henry which works for now, but I'm looking forward to having them in separate rooms. She seems to like most foods, but has a small appetite. She has started eating crackers, which she really likes and she is using a sippy cup. She does fairly well with her cup, but doesn't have it completely figured out yet.
My sweet Anne
